Makis Axiotis was born in Mytilene in 1950. He is a surgeon. However he is also a columnist, who writes about the history of Lesbos.

He is a member of the Hellenic Literary Society and has written six books one of which is " A Walking Tour of Lesbos" , a two volume chronicle - an archaeological walking expedition on the island.
